Botswana built its tourism industry around a simple idea — fewer camps, higher prices, less crowding — and the Okavango Delta is the result: a seasonal floodplain reachable only by light aircraft or boat, with game drives and mokoro (dugout canoe) trips that rarely share a sighting with another vehicle. Maun is the real gateway here, not the capital Gaborone — nearly every Delta charter and overland safari starts from its airport.
Beyond the Delta, Chobe National Park along the Botswana-Namibia-Zimbabwe border holds one of Africa's largest elephant populations, and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve adds a starker, drier safari landscape for a longer trip. It's a genuinely premium destination — worth planning around a specialist rather than booking piecemeal.
